The North Canton Jaycees/Quaker Steak and Lube Celebration in the Park is on Monday, July 5th, 2010.  Our annual Kids’ Parade will begin at 10:30am from the North Canton Hoover Stadium Parking Lot on 7th Street and will travel west onto Main St.  All children are welcome to decorate their bicycles and ride with an adult in the parade.  No registration is necessary.  Please arrive at the parking lot at 9:30 for the parade line up.

The evening portion of our celebration will begin at 6:00pm at the same location (Dogwood Park).  The Celebration in the Park includes food, fun, entertainment, and of course, fireworks!  The fireworks will be fired off in the same location as previous years (the ball fields on 7th Street).

Many of you may be wondering why we chose July 5th instead of July 4th for our celebration date.  Because July 4th falls on a Sunday this year, we were unable to block the city’s main streets due to the many churches that reside there.  We, as a chapter, decided not to break our events into two days (for example, to have the fireworks on the 4th and the parade on the 5th).  Instead, we, along with the YMCA, chose the national holiday, July 5th, as our Celebration in the Park date.

We hope you attend all of these family-friendly events in celebration of our nation’s freedom.

Thank you and have a wonderful Independence Day!

  1. It would be nice if the fireworks were simulcasted on one of the local stations. Every year we struggle with finding a station thats doing it for other celebrations.

    Just a thought! ;)

  2. Thanks, Nick! It is a great idea! Unfortunately, at this time, simulcasting with a radio station is very expensive and out of our budget range.
